In other countries, you can be accused and you must then prove your innocence. Intellectual Property Law Intellectual Property Law deals with copyright law, patent law, trademark law, and trade secrets law. Federal law controls copyright and patent law, while trademarks are the subject of both federal and state law. State trademarks, however, provide protection only within a particular state.
