Divorce and Life Insurance
If you have recently been divorced, you should make sure that you have changed your beneficiary designations for life insurance and pension plans. According to a new United States Supreme Court decision, even if there is a law that automatically revokes beneficiary designations after a divorce, it is preempted by Federal ERISA. If you are not sure, you should contact your plan administrator or your attorney immediately. Want More Information?
